Currently, we are looking for a Supervisor, City Compliance to join the ABF Freight team. The Supervisor, City Compliance directs and supports service centers in improving compliance to FLASH requirements and processes across all city related metrics, such as Off Yard percentage by 0900, transit compliance – IB, cross-dock percentage, bring backs, stops per manifest, and street productivity. This position plans, supervises, and controls available resources associated with the timely, damage-free, and safe loading/unloading of freight on assigned shifts. The Supervisor, City Compliance also travels to service centers to evaluate inbound related practices and educate management and employees, and to ensure all policies and procedures for the proper handling of freight, proper follow-up, corrective action, and preventative measures are implemented and in place in the distribution service centers.

Your contribution may include:

  • Maintain appropriate load plans and ensure proper load balance for safe vehicle operation.
  • Assign job tasks to employees according to unloading and loading schedules.
  • Coordinate work assignments and monitor performances.
  • Provide training, performance feedback, and disciplinary recommendations, as needed to local management.
  • Foster safe handling, loading, unloading, and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
  • Manage, monitor, analyze and improve the system’s load quality compliance as it pertains to city operations.
  • Monitor and address compliance to piece level barcoding requirements. 
  • Support service center management in training and usage of the Flash Inbound Planning.
  • Promote and work within a team environment to accomplish departmental and company goals within a Flash environment.
  • Champion Company values, policies, and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate advanced content development and classroom presentation skills.
  • Provide supervision for other trainer roles.
  • Coach and develop direct reports on all required job proficiencies.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify training needs and develop appropriate training proposals.
  • Train newly hired employees on orientation and required job skill competencies.
  • Review supervisor feedback and provide job shadowing functions to assist management with the improvement of individual performance.
  • Travel to service centers and develop and conduct periodic refresher training on an as-needed basis.
  • Guide service center leadership on proper usage of the Flash System.
  • Support service center management in training and usage of the Inbound Planning System within Flash.
  • Provide guidance and support for service centers not meeting expectations in a Flash environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned

As the Supervisor, City Compliance, you will be a member of the ABF Freight Service Center Operations team. Work hours vary based on scheduling to provide system coverage during normal business hours including nights, weekends, and travel time. Ready to apply? Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience: Minimum, one-year experience in freight / dock operations, preferred. Experience with Flash, preferred.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

The pay range for this position is $54,700 - 67,300. Subject to market adjustment based on location.
